Purpose
The Colorado Nurses Foundation is dedicated to improving health care and nursing practice in Colorado. The foundation began Oct. 3, 1987, as the Nursing Institute of Colorado. Although the name has changed, the mission of the organization has remained essentially the same: to advance nursing in Colorado through education, advocacy, and recognition.
The Colorado Nurses Foundation vision is that nursing is recognized for its leadership role in creating a sustainable health care system for Colorado. The foundation is devoted to creating nursing excellence through the promotion of educational and scientific activities and community-based projects. Contributions, fundraising, activities and grants are used to support CNF activities.
The foundation became the sponsor for the prestigious Nightingale Event in 1999 and has raised more than $329,000 for nursing scholarships. Nursing students throughout the State of Colorado are encouraged to apply for scholarships, which are awarded each January.
The Colorado Nurses Foundation is committed to make a collective impact on a diverse, inclusive, and equitable care environment for all Colorado nurses and the Coloradans they serve. We embrace the uniqueness of all nurses and the kaleidoscope of humans of every race, color, religion, national origin, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, age, veteran status, or immigration path who call Colorado home. Our commitment to these values is central to our mission and guides the development and implementation of our programs and initiatives that foster nursing excellence and promotes the leadership role of nurses to create a sustainable health care system for Colorado. These visions include:
Promotion of holistic nursing education,
Collaboration with other organizations on behalf of the nursing profession,
Advocating for and valuing nursing students and all nurses who practice our profession,
Recognizing nursing excellence, and
Preserving the legacy of nursing.
The Colorado Nurses Foundation is a Colorado 501(c)(3) non-profit agency.
